OVERVIEW Zaira is from a near-apocalyptic world set in the not-so-distant future. Grumpy, prone to shooting first and asking questions later, but well intentioned. Totally the type to get fidgety and awkward if someone overtly flirts with her. She works as a mercenary for hire, flitting across Europe, frequenting London when not working. PERSONALITY On the surface, Zaira's a quiet woman who keeps to herself. She can be abrupt when working, to the point of being rude. Snark and sarcasm aren't uncommon around those she's grown comfortable around. It's a rare beast for her to show vulnerability to someone, but not unheard of--it just takes a long time for her to trust someone enough for them to see that side of her. She values efficiency and prefers to work solo on jobs. Part of it's arrogance (she can get the job done much faster), but there's also the fact that people tend to be a liability and she prefers her control. This is a woman who is armed to the teeth. She hates leaving things to chance, and grows agitated very easily by those who slack on their duties. There's a long period in her life that's a big blank question mark because of a curse that managed to wipe away a good chunk of her memory. Her childhood is a vague memory, more a blur than anything she can rely on as fact. What did she do for the last some-odd years? Again, a blur. She hates that, and, as a result, tends to be evasive and vague when it comes to talking about the past. Trust is a reoccurring issue. It takes time for someone to sneak past her defenses and get her to open up. She's not cowed by nudity, but will grow awkward if someone tries to be affectionate with her. Sex is also rare, but typically meaningless to her and a way to blow off steam. Compliments are something so rarely encountered, she doesn't know how to respond. Much like approaching a wild animal, going slow and steady is the best way to handle her. ABILITIES Mercenary. This is a woman who favors physical strength and weaponry over "magic tricks." There's a lethal sort of grace to Zaira when she's fighting. Proficient with not only guns and blades, but also hand to hand combat. She's definitely the one who will take a shovel to someone's head, no questions asked. That might not kill a demon, but it sure will slow it down. Gunslinger. Fast, cat-like reflexes have allowed her an accuracy that makes her lethal. Shooting first and asking questions later tends to be her motto. If you're still alive after she's shot you, chances are, she wasn't trying to kill you. Skinwalker. A bloodline skill (or curse) that's been passed down from generation to generation in her family. It's a fiercely guarded secret of hers. What is a skinwalker? A 'witch' who can turn into any animal of her choosing. So long as she has something of that animal, she can transform into it. That something could be a tooth, a claw, or even a skull. This is a long and painful process, typically saved as a last resort due to its taxing effect on her mind and body. Big Cat. This is less of an ability and more of an "alter ego." There's a distinct animal-like instinct to her, imprinted on her mind due to the years of being trapped in the form of a cougar. Zaira refers to this as "big cat," allowing its instincts to sometimes guide her in certain scenarios she might otherwise not be equipped to handle properly.
